1. 9th Grade Expectations - Examine and outline common expectations that 9th grade teachers could use in their classrooms to help encourage a better 9th grade transition and therefore higher student achievement and success. Consider syllabus policies such as second chance learning, late work, homework, and makeup work.
2. Using Technology for Formative and Summative Assessments - The internet has a host of tools to use for formative and summative assessments. Examine and implement into your daily lessons technology tools for assessment. Examples include: socrative.com, todaysmeet.com, google docs, threering.com, videonotes.com, flubaroo.com, nearpod, com. Get and give some ideas for how to use active inspire in your classroom. Check out MSDE for more information.
3. STEM Project Development - Work interdepartmentally to develop and implement STEM projects. Examine and design school-wide STEM projects. What connections can be made to real-world problems that incorporate multiple disciplines?
4. Common Assessment - Develop common assessments with teammates for both formative, summative, and final exams. Once those assessments have been implemented, examine data to determine changes in lessons as well as the actual assessment. Additionally, align assessments with common core standards to ensure skills testing, not just rote knowledge.

5. Universal Design for Learning - Bring your lesson plans and get ideas for how to differentiate them for different learners. Get ideas and share ideas to reach every learner in your classroom. Share best practices, as well as lessons learned for how to change your everyday classroom teaching practice. Reach out to sources outside of South Carroll for ideas and share those with your team as well as the school.
6. Developing Leaders - Are you interested in more leadership opportunities at South Carroll High School? Are you currently in an administrative program with graduate school? Recently received your Administration 1 certificate? Want to read and discuss articles about educational trends on the national level? Want to join in the conversation with national leaders to better your teaching strategies and daily practice? This PLC is for you! This will give current and future educational leaders the opportunity to establish personal learning networks and to begin or continue your journey in instructional leadership.
7. Education that is Multi-Cultural (ETM) - Work with other content area teachers to develop and implement culturally considerate activities and lessons. Examine the spectrum of cultural sensitivity and discuss the factors that contribute to educating without bias. Group will read and discuss research-based book called Creating Culturally Considerate Schools.
